Unveiled at The Goodstuff Media Showcase, "The Fun Factory" teaser trailer introduced NBCUniversal’s immersive experience, bringing its iconic IPs to life in a fresh and dynamic way. Designed for a cinema audience, the trailer served as the first glimpse into this imaginative concept.
The creative process centred around transforming vibrant "factory" theming into a cohesive journey through the experience. Drawing inspiration from the playful aesthetic, animated "rooms" were designed to showcase franchises such as Minions, The Office, Shrek, and SNL. By layering and parallaxing elements, these spaces were brought to life, creating a narrative of moving through the "factory" as though peeking behind the scenes.
To further enhance the factory theme, a variety of clips were integrated and stylised to simulate screens that might exist within the factory itself. The final direction evolved through collaboration and feedback, transitioning from a heavily motion graphics-driven approach to a clip-focused format. This ensured recognisable moments were highlighted while maintaining an engaging flow and a comedic tone for the audience.
The voiceover was pivotal in setting the trailer's tone, with a professional voice actor delivering a tailored narration that complemented the playful and immersive atmosphere.
Despite the creative evolution of the project, the final teaser successfully showcased the immersive experience while balancing engaging visuals, narrative cohesion, and light-hearted humour. It struck the right chord with the audience, leaving a lasting impression at the showcase.
